Bridging Basics
Does the native Sophon Bridge use LayerZero for all assets?
Does the native Sophon Bridge use LayerZero for all assets?
No, it doesn’t. The Sophon Bridge is our canonical bridge, the official one connecting Sophon to Ethereum. Some tokens might use LayerZero, and Sophon also supports them.
Is it possible to bridge assets in both directions?
Is it possible to bridge assets in both directions?
Yes, but it depends:
- Assets that exist on Ethereum can be bridged natively.
- Assets on protocols like LayerZero or Wormhole must use their respective bridges instead of Sophon’s Bridge, otherwise two versions of the asset will end up on Sophon’s side.
- Sophon-native assets such as MUP can’t be bridged to Ethereum using Sophon’s native bridge. They can only be bridged if they were created using some specific protocol (like LayerZero).
Will support be added for other networks like Arbitrum, Optimism and Base?
Will support be added for other networks like Arbitrum, Optimism and Base?
Support for these networks is already available on Layerswap. As Sophon grows, more tokens, chains, and protocols will be added.
Fees and Security
Is there a fee for bridging?
Is there a fee for bridging?
It depends on the token:
- For the Sophon Bridge, only standard gas fees on L1 and L2 apply.
- When it comes to other protocols like LayerZero or Layerswap, additional fees may apply.
How secure is the native Sophon Bridge?
How secure is the native Sophon Bridge?
The native Sophon Bridge is as secure as the protocol itself, making it one of the safest components of our system. Sophon is built on a widely tested tech stack and reinforced with ZK proofs, so it’s very secure.
Processes and Third-Party Support
Why do users need to wait 24 hours to claim after bridging?
Why do users need to wait 24 hours to claim after bridging?
This delay ensures transaction batches are finalized on Ethereum, preventing invalid withdrawals if the chain state rolls back. The wait time will soon drop to 3 hours. For more info, see ZKsync’s Official Docs.
Are third-party bridges like Layerswap officially recognized by Sophon?
Are third-party bridges like Layerswap officially recognized by Sophon?
Sophon has partnered with Layerswap and trusts in their infrastructure and security. With this in mind, third-party bridges are fully responsible for maintaining the integrity of their operations. In the event of any issues, we will work with these providers to address the situation and arrive at a resolution as soon as possible.
