The former boost mechanism permanently committed part of a farming position to an ownerless liquidity position. In return, that committed amount received a larger virtual weight for Sophon Points. Because boosted assets were permanently committed and the associated LP tokens were burned, the historical rules did not allow participants to withdraw the boosted portion.
